Zoé "Hielo"

While Zoé tend to fit more into the psychedlic/space rock genre, this song caught my attention years ago while I was in Mexico as it sounded like a bunch of Mexican musicians had grown up listening to synthpop and decided to make their own version. I speak very little Spanish, so for the most part I do not understand the lyrics, but sometimes when a song is good the language does not matter (which also explains my love for all things Rammstein). I think it's been eight years since I first heard this song but I come back to it time again because, yes, this track is fire (ironic, when its title literally means "ice," but cold can burn too, right?). Enjoy!

Sturgill Simpson "Sing Along"

It's hard for me to believe that the album Sound & Fury  is over six years old because to me it still so fresh and alive. I bought it on CD back in 2019 after my friend, Alan, turned me onto it. This is one of those albums with zero skips. Though I already own it on CD I recently bought it on vinyl and put it on today, which is why I am reminded of how fucking good it is. But this is the one that I picked in this reality. If you haven't heard this song or this album yet, you really should remedy that because, in my opinion, it's just that  good. Happy Monday! Enjoy!

The Flaming Lips "Do You Realize?"

This song often reminds me of loss; I think I first discovered before my maternal grandfather's funeral and it really hit me because I had experienced a fair amount of loss in the previous 18 months: I had gone through a divorce, a friend of mine's wife lost her battle with cancer, and I lost two uncles and a grandfather. Do you realize That everyone you know someday will die? And instead of saying all of your goodbyes Let them know you realize that life goes fast It's hard to make the good things last You realize the sun doesn't go down It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round But paired with that sense of loss is realizing, yes, we are all mortal and will therefore die, that one should appreciate, and yes, be thankful for the people in our lives and cherish the time we have with our loved ones. I will miss those people not at the table with us this week as we celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, but I am also thankful for the time I had with them, a...
