This Track Is Fire!

Note: In honor of one full year of This Track Is Fire I thought I would highlight the top 10 posts over the last year, but there's a tie in the seventh position, and a three-way tie in the tenth position, so instead you're getting the Top 12 Posts over the past year. Coming in at #11 is Depeche Mode "Insight," which pleases me to no end. Every Depeche Mode fan has their favorites, and amongst them we each have a less-heralded song, a hidden gem, that we feel does not get enough love. For me, that track is "Insight." Also: today is the anniversary of the 101st concert of Depeche Mode's "Music for the Masses" tour, which I highlighted yesterday .

I could go on and on posting Depeche Mode tracks, but this is not a Depeche Mode blog. So, if you're a reader/listener/visitor to my small corner of the internet, thank you for stopping by and humoring me as I dedicated this birthday week to my favorite band of all time. This track is pulling double duty. First off, it's not one of the singles from this album, so again, unless you're a hardcore fan you may not be familiar with it. But again, the "mission statement" of this blog is to highlight those tracks that are indeed fire, but maybe not immediately obviously so. This isn't "Barrel of a Gun," "It's No Good," "Home," nor "Useless," which are fantastic tracks, but in my personal opinion, this track is just as good. I hear it as incredibly raw and vulnerable, flat out telling the listener that this is an "insight into my life." That feeling of exposure is the "strange flight" that Gore pens. Lett...
